Alex HANNAFORD

Alex Hannaford writes about social justice, politics, and other topics for British GQ, The Sunday Times and Sunday Telegraph magazines, The Independent, The Guardian, Al Jazeera English, The Daily Beast, Esquire, The Atlantic, The Nation, and other outlets. He has edited for a number of publications including Stranger's Guide. A Columbia University Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma fellow, Alex is the writer and director of an award-winning animated short film about the death penalty and the co-creator of the top-ranking podcast, Dead Man Talking. Born in London, he has taught journalism at the UK's Kingston University. His latest book, Lost in Austin — which Kirkus called "a model of first-rate reportage" — will be published by HarperCollins in 2024. He lives in upstate New York with his wife, his daughter, and his dog. 

Alexandra MARVAR

Several of Alex's many New York Times features have been among that publication's most shared stories. As a freelance journalist and editor, she has written for National Geographic, The Guardian, The Verge, BBC Travel, The Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair and other outlets. As writer-for-hire, her portfolio includes advertorial features for dozens of global enterprises. Alex brings extensive writing experience along with 15 years' experience in digital marketing and audience growth. An expert in building and engaging digital communities, she has worked in crowdfunding production, including serving as a coproducer on the highest-grossing doc film Kickstarter of all time. A native midwesterner, she now lives with her husband in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts.
